Yoga is a lifestyle intervention that brings many health benefits.

Yoga practice brings strength and flexibility, but also promotes, cardiovascular fitness, weight loss, and decreased back pain. From a mental health perspective, the mindfulness element helps with depression and anxiety management.

Dr Matt Joslin, one of the GPs at the Docs, is a keen yoga practitioner and signposts it with confidence to many of his patients. There is a growing evidence base for yoga as a health intervention.

The Care Quality Commission was particularly impressed with this initiative. It is health promotion targeted to the needs of our local population. The feedback has been enthusiastic from those who have given yoga practice a trial.

There are lots of different styles of yoga from strenuous and dynamic through to more gentle and relaxing. There is a yoga style for any person of any age, ability and body type. There are many yoga providers across the city.
