Dr Tim Worden BM BS, Nottingham 1979
Male Partner
Born in London before ITV but after the coronation, Tim finally managed to return to Lancashire (from whence both his parents hailed) only in 1989.
Having been trailed around the country in childhood due to the whims of parental ambition he spent his teenage years, astonishingly, on the Hampshire coast. Escaping north as soon as practicable Tim made it as far as Nottingham University and occasionally its medical school. Eventually sobering up he passed his degree at the second attempt.
After various locum jobs whilst looking for the right job, Tim spent three years as a partner in a socialist equal pay collective practice in Sheffield. Having learnt many useful lessons about how not to run a medical practice and how Sheffield wasn’t really for him Tim fled across the Pennines to his natural home.
Realising that he was not especially good at being employed by others, Tim started his own practice – The Docs (on Canal street initially, but few people ever got the joke) in 1992 after a surprising amount of difficulty in persuading local health authorities that he knew what he was doing. Having now seen the practice grow in both size and reputation to the point where he knows it can manage without him, Tim is currently trying to resolve the conflict between the extra cash and status he gets as a partner at The Docs and the additional freedom and time at Old Trafford (no – the cricket one) retirement offers.
